I sing, with a profound sense of responsibility and humility, for children, men, and women, having among them many diverse cultures and religions, in many parts of the world, carrying [with me] a message of peace and tolerance; this is what I wish to do and will do with all my strength. I feel particularly close to the problems of children and old people, at times disregarded and neglected. They are our past and our future, and wherever we will be going, we cannot leave out of consideration where we came from.”
