E poi c’è anche il maestro Carlo Bernini, tutti lo conoscete perché lavoriamo insieme dagli inizi anzi da quando eravamo ragazzi. In questo periodo io e Carlo abbiamo lavorato molto intensamente sul Faust di Gounod che cercherò di andare a eseguire a Palermo il 20 e 22 di Marzo. E in questi giorni ci ha raggiunto anche Eugene che mi ha dato una grossa mano dall’alto della sua enorme esperienza musicale accanto a tutti i cantanti che chissà quante volte ha già diretto il Faust anche lui. Il suo francese è migliore del mio, quindi mi sta dando una mano, ecco perché io cercherò di trattenerlo qui qualche giorno ancora. Faust. Faust è a mio parere un’opera meravigliosa, ci sono delle melodie straordinare all’interno che anch’io ho scoperto in quest’occasione per la prima volta. L’opera comincia proprio con il Dr. Faust che è in là con gli anni, è triste, è solo, sente che la vita se n’è andata e non gli offre più niente di nuovo, più niente d’interessante e allora pensa di togliersela. Pensa di affidare la propria vita ad una pozione velenosa, quando a un certo punto al culmine della sua esasperazione invoca Satana il quale non si fa attendere, e viene… poi la storia tutti voi la conoscete, Faust vende l’anima al Diavolo in cambio della giovinezza, e poi… tutto quello che succede. Adesso come avevo promesso facciamo qualche minuto di musica per darvi un’anteprima di quest’opera meravigliosa partendo proprio dall’inizio dell’opera.” ------- segue ------ Andrea: “ Ecco questa praticamente è la prima scena tutta sulle spalle del Dr. Faust, e poi c’è una parte che mi piacerebbe far sentire a tutti quanti, che è proprio il finale dell’atto…” -------segue ------- Andrea: “ Poi un accenno all’aria che tutti voi conoscete è doverosa per farvi capire” ------segue ------- Andrea: “ Poi ci sono pagine meravigliose in duetto con il soprano…. In my opinion Faust is a wonderful opera, it contains extraordinary melodies that I even listened for the very first time in this occasion. The opera begins with an aged Doctor Faust, he’s sad, alone, he feels that life has gone and has nothing more to give him, nothing more interesting, so he considers to commit suicide. He thinks to give out his life to poison, when suddenly, at the top of his exasperation, he invokes Satan, who doesn’t hesitate and comes… then you all know the story, Faust sells his soul to devil in exchange for youth , and then… the story goes on.
